Club Car MCOR Test

What is an MCOR?

The MCOR (Motor Controller Output Regulator) is the unit which controls the solenoid/controller activation, using an internal microswitch. It also controls the throttle input command using an electronic rheostat circuit board.

What are the symptoms of a bad MCOR?

Typically speaking, sudden jerking, or erractic throttle jump, inconsistent acceleration through pedal depression is a clear indication the MCOR is faulty.
Another symptom is top speed is not achievable, but can be other factors causing that particular issue (ie battery voltage, bad speed sensor, bad solenoid, bad connections, etc)

How to check MCOR;

If your noticing the symptoms of a bad MCOR, follow these steps;

You will require a multimeter and possibly general tools, jack, jack stands.
For our example, we're looking at a Club Car Precedent 2013 model.

Make sure you have a safe working enviroment, turn key switch off, flick cart into Tow/Maintenance, disconnect main battery negative and isolate.
Depending on Club Car model, there will be different ways to gain access to the MCOR. Once access to MCOR has been achieved, you can now test the two parts;

Part one;
Check the Microswitch circuit (2 pin plug).
Do so by putting your multimeter in continuity setting, then put one probe onto/into each pin.
Depress the accelerator pedal to see if microswitch is activating correctly.
If activation is not occuring, you need to replace MCOR.

Part two;
Check the Rheostat circuit (3 pin plug)
Do so by putting your multimeter in Ohms (0-5k) setting, then put one probe onto/into the pin with White w/Black stripe wire, and the other probe onto/into the pin with Yellow wire.
When depressing the accelerator slowly, you should observe a smooth transition between the range.
Now, do the same but with one probe onto/into the pin with Purple wire, and the other probe onto/into the pin with Yellow wire.
The reading should be the same, but in reverse to previous.
If you notice any erractic jumping, (for example, lets say 0-2K is smooth then jumps to 4K, then back to 3K) on one consistant slow depression, you will need to replace MCOR.

Once testing/repairs are complete, you can reconnect main battery negative and flick cart back into Run.
